I haven't read all the posts here just yet, but I'm dying to lose some weight. I'm 240 lbs at the moment, and gaining for reasons unknown. I'm a health food freak and and vegan at home, so it doesn't reallly make a whole lot of sense to me. I'm a zoology student and reasonably active but even when i was going to the gym 4 days a week for 3 hours I was maintaining, not losing weight. Would love some tips on how to lose those 70 extra pesky pounds! (I'd be contentish around 170 as I'm quite muscular at 5'7)
Anne....... if u like veggies.... u could check out the McDougall Program.. it does work for me.... it is just that I was born and raised on meat and cheese so I lose a few lbs... and then get off the diet and just keep jumping on and off. He has a web site tho and many many people have been very sucessful. Best of luck to u....
I am new to the site but i just need some advice. i weigh 620 lbs. and no diets have worked or anything i just dont know what to do. If anyone has any advice to offer, I 'd love to hear it.
So far, since I've joined the YMCA..I went from a size 14 jeans to a size 10 now.
Working towards a size 8 but hey, if I get stuck at 10, it's cool too. At my age I don't think a size 1/2 is possible ever again! When I was that size (at 5"6") I looked all PUCKERED UP! Not a good thing.
I just really like the dicipline and the "rush" you get from being on the Stepper (or any cardio) for 50 minutes straight and it's almost EUPHORIC! Like a drug I guess.
The weight training is going great. I can see my triceps! I can lift my little 3 year old and she loves when I can throw her up in the air more than just ONCE! haha.
As for my eating? Hmm...well...I do have my egg white or egg beater omlett with Salsa or with Mayple Sausage. I don't skip meals, in fact I eat 6 small meals a day cause it keeps my metabolism up. I do stop eating after 6pm. If I want something really badly, I eat Yogurt or a Baby Spinach Salad. YUM!

WTG!! I did WW a couple years ago and lost 68 lbs. Then I found out I had breast cancer and stressed out and have gained back almost 40 of it. I've tried to get back on plan, but can't seem to get my 'want to' going again. I hope I do soon, because I feel so much better when I'm lighter. I'll always be a BBW, but I sure liked buying the smaller size clothes.
I'm having pretty good results with Weight Watchers. I started in January and have lost 64 lbs to date. I recently switched from their Flex Points program to the Core program and find that I'm liking that a lot. I do a water pilates program 2 to 3 days a week and try to do some other exercise the rest of the week. I've got a ways to go but at least it's a start.
New to here also, but wanted to comment about low impact exercise for people who are unable to engage in a high impact exercise program. I've been in the rehab medical field for many years, so am extremely familiar with the medical conditions that will not allow certain types of exercise.
I have taught a Queen Size Belly Dance (Maharani Belly Dancers) exercise class through the years and it works for so many people! No impact, gentle movements combined with cardio really gives one a workout. And never let ANYONE say "it looks so easy"
My theory was that ladies of any size and fitness level would enjoy learning some of the movments and exercising at the same time. (No costumes or performances required...just a willingness to participate and a sense of humour). And I ended up with ladies of ALL sizes (even slim) and ages 14 through 73!
I haven't given the classes for over a year (due to schedule conflicts, etc.), but have started looking around for a place to hold them again.
There are some great Belly Dance videos/DVDs out there. I prefer the twins (Neena and Veena) 'Slim Down' to start off with. I became acquainted with the gentleman who does a lot of the music for their videos and have all of his CDs.
Belly Dance as an exercise is truly a great alternative to consider. And do I even have to mention the reaction you get when you casually bring it up in a conversation with a gentleman?
Hi everyone, I'm brand new to this sight and could sure use some help. I have been large all my life but am now starting to worry about my health.I have Fibromyalgia and am now suffering from chronic back pain. I once belonged to Curves and loved it,what a great place, but my back put a stop to that. Since then the pounds have been creeping back on and I am felling worse as the days go by. If anyone has any REAL suggestions or advise , I'll take it.

Thanks. I go back to Court in September for part two of my merits hearing. I can't wait to see his face then. I'm starting to work with weights and tone. *VOGUES* OH yeah...heyyy...gonna rub it in his face...*L* No, but really this time! I'm bringing my camera!
Thank you both again for your words of encouragement! I hope that life is going well for you and everyone else that reads these threads. PEACE!
"hi have always been a lover of big beautiful women , i would love to have one of any race to be my girl friend and hopefully my wife.
I'm 34, Heavy-set brown hair, green eyes with glasses. I'm disabled & Diabetic enjoy movies, going out, long walks, cuddling with that special someone.
if your the big beautiful women that looks at the inner person
My simple weight loss method wass to get away from the enviorment that made me so depressed! Aside from being abusive, my ex-husband was a real @$$ about my weight. His ragging on my weight after I had our second child and then his abusive temper turned on my children and I decided I had enough. I was 310lbs when I seperated.
I consulted a doctor and was started on Phentermine a year and a half ago. I dropped to 250lbs! That's 60lbs!!!
Then I decided that I would stop taking the medicine. So I did, I got onto a regular diet. I started studying jeet kun do and archery. I also started dancing! I was able to eat carbs in moderation and I only drink water. I got rid of sodas and kool aid. Eat more fruits and vegetables and I've dropped down to 220lbs!
When I walked into the court room for my merits hearing, my ex's chin fell to the floor. It's a memory I will never forget and for the first time I was able to look him in the eye and not be reduced to tears by the memory of his hurtful words. I don't think he realized I had this much strength within me.
My ultimate goal is 180lbs. I am determined to meet that goal in another 6 months and then I'll be ready to tear up the dating scene.
Surrounding myself with people who have positive outlooks and the same determination to succeed is also a factor in my new outlook on life.
Hi, everyone has anybody heard of the Wendie Diet? It's based on the weight watchers flex point plan. It was created by a lady who stopped losing weight on weight watchers and realized by fluxuating your daily point allowances you can continue to lose a couple pounds a week. My sister and I discovered it in First magazine and are trying it to loose weight. In the past three weeks I've lost 6 pounds and my sister has lost 11. If you want to find out more about it just look on the internet for "Wendie diet plan" on the site she tells her story and how to use the plan.
I joined a "weight management" site. It lets you update and enter everything you ate and calculates your calories. It also lets you see how many calories you burn when excercising (had a drop list of excercises & equipment used). It's cool!
Also, I have been doing the Asprin/Caffeine/ and eliptical trainer regimine and am taking amino acids too. So far since May , lost 26 lbs.
I know I am NEVER going to see a size 1 again, but I'll settle for a 7! And If I don't make it to a 7...PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO JUST DEAL WITH IT! HA!
Well I am fairly new to this site but I have found that with moderate exercise and just cutting out the sweets, I have lost 20 lbs in the last month. I was told that I needed to keep the protien and also the carbs.. just in moderation, cutting out the extra salt and eating more frequently. So far it does work.. I cant wait to see more results ...
I really enjoy reading the posts about how everyone is doing.. keep up the good work!!
