I'm born and raised in Germany and I still live here too.. :)
My mom's side of the family is all german, my father is american.
His mother's family came from Ireland and his father's family came from France to Canada and finally settled in the states.
I always love it when people ask me about my name:
"Your first name sounds english."
"It is."
"So you're fathers british?"
"No."
"Your family name doesn't sound british.."
"Because it's not. It's french."
"Oh, so your family is from France!"
"No, my Dad's american.."
"Oh..."
I love the way people look then.. all confussed... *lol*

When asked I say I'm german, though I have two passports and can live in both countries.
I've only been to the states twice... so how can I say I'm an american?
Not by heart..
Then again I do not know what's "typically american" or typically german" because I was raised in both cultures and none..
Hard to explain... Maybe you can understand what I mean...

My background is just a mixture of cultures. My mom's side is half Irish and half French. My dad's side is more of a mixture: Irish, dutch, german, scottish, english, and I think that's about it. Just a good old fashioned American Heinz 57 here.

And Bubs, I am soooo jealous you got to kiss Bryan Adams.

Well my maternal family was brought to the U.S. south as slaves. We have some Native American and European blood in the mix. I don't no what tribe or country. I just know my Great-Great-Great Grandma Litha was the daughter of the slave owner during the civil war. She told stories how her family put her under the big house so she could hear the slave owners discuss the progress of the war. My father was an imigrant from Uye, Nigeria. So I am first Generation American on that side.

Buongiorno Dana! Come state? :) Boy it has been a long time since I spoke any Italian. I think I may have that wrong! hehe I did study it for 3 years when I was in high school. I live in an area of Canada that has a very strong Italian population so when I was in high school pretty much everyone around me was Italian. Mind you I did go to a Catholic high school so that helped. ;) hehe

I also have some German background as well but that part of my family came to the New World in the 1700s and 1800s so we don't have any memory of Germany or Germany anymore unfortunately.

Mar7aba Modgal. ;) Kaif halik alyoom? Inshallah tamam. ;) hehe

I have a lot of online friends in the Middle East and have learned some Arabic because I've spent a lot of time hanging out in the Arab chatrooms. I have fun going there and practicing my Arabic, even on mic! ;) hehe I think it's such a beautiful language.

*waves hands* an Italian over here though there might be a bit of German mixed in there from way back. But I'm born an Aussie and proud of both my nationalities/backgrounds.
