What I meant by "Left Behind" BTW was that there's a series of books aimed at christian fundamentalists about the end of the world. Those who don't get taken up to heaven have to fight it out with the forces of the devil.

The Stand stck me as similar because it was all black and white and post-apocalyptic. I don't like Steven King anyway... it's been about 20 years since he's written anything remotely interesting.

Actually it was Nebraska, Theo... A bit away from the deep south, but part of corn and cow country nonetheless.

Did you know that Stephen King wipes out Des Moines (my former home town) in over half of his books/movies? We Iowans have to learn not to take it too personally!

my all time favorite movie is Newsies the first time i saw it i was in 5th grade....i have watched that movie more than any other movie i have ever seen. i just love musicals......and christian bale lol

Left behind was a series / books somehow related to the bible... I never did watch it.. something to do with the folk left behind that weren't pure and werent damned either so they roam the earth i dunno.

The stand came out long before left behind i think... i could be wrong. sooo Left Behind might be a little..... The Standish. I loved the intro song with the slide guitar... which im currently learning how to play.... very slowly. The song is called project blue on the soundtrack. If anyone has the stand sound track i would MUCH appreciate a copy of Project Blue.

Yes, thats the one - 6 hours of pure entertainment. Not sure what you mean by "left behind" but i enjoy the film very much (and have just discovered that i can also get a few quid for my dvd on Ebay! - not that i'd part with it - its a good film for when i'm poorly and can't be bothered to get off the sofa!)

I also like films such as The Colour Purple and a film i hav'nt seen for ages but thought was great was Hairspray..........does anyone else like it?

Isn't the Stand the one where everyone dies apart from a tiny group of people and one load live in Las Vegas and the other half with some toothless old woman in the deep south?

"Field of Dreams" James Earl Jones just has that booming voice that is so great. The speach he makes toward the end of the movie was just great.

"The Labyrinth" with David Bowie is my all time fav.
I used to sing all the songs and was madly in love with D.B. when I was like.. hmm.. 8 or so... lol

Braveheart is great too..
Probably nobody here knows a movie called "Farinelli", right? I loved that one... great clothing end everything..

And something I just got into a short while ago: Bollywood-movies! Singing, dancing, tragedy, comedy, love, colors... all in one. Reminds me of these old-time musicals... lol

Strictly ballroom was fun to watch. And there is an australian movie called "Spider and Rose" (at least here in germany) very funny. I wish I knew how to get that movie somehow..

Oooooooh good call. I love the original black and white Haunting. It shows how technically brillliant it is that it can still manage to scare people today. Amazing film.

Urban Cowboy... I think that the dynamics between John Travolta and Debra Winger were so VERY realistic....

I agree with just about everyone here, so many great movies, and diffucult to pick just one. The one movie I have always loved since I was a child, and watch at least three times a year is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Everytime Charlie opens that candy bar he bought with found money, I want to jump up and cheer for him!

My all time favorite movie is an oldie "Arsenic and Old Lace". I'll watch it any time it's on tv (haven't found it on DVD yet).

For more modern movies, "Pretty Woman", the orginal "Star Wars" trilogy or the Indiana Jones movies.
