hey, i just wanted to say that i personaly love rap/hip hop (i do like nasty, dirty, bashing rapp). there is so many rappers that are disrespectful but hey were promoting it so what does everyone expect? there is no reason to say all of rap is about dissing women. some artists like kanye west and nos have positive messages. but i think that everyone has their own opinon and they are intitled to it. peace yall

Hip hop is great, the beat's are amazing while these underground rappers are taking it to the next level with DJ's. If u really want to have fun try freestyling with ur Friends, becomes very entertianing. Not all hip hop is about women bashing....it just depends on what artist u listen to. For example listening to ludacris, you r going to hear a lot of women bashing lyircs.

All these rappers these days do is disrespect women and glamorise drugs and violence.

I'm not a massive hip hop fan but I do like a little bit and my favourite CD of all time is Mos Def's "Black On Both Sides", also MC's like KRS One, Rakim, Chuck D, Masta Ace from back in the late 80s, early 90s. There's still good hip hop around but you won't hear the good conscious stuff on the radio - just the bling bling gangsta tracks...

I will be the first to say that not alot of people who trash rap/hip-hop even know what the music is truely about. They always say it objectifies women, promotes a thug lifestyle, drug use, and etc. but that's not what rap & hip-hop are all about. There are plenty of artist whom have other things to say than talking about s*x and women. It's just that is what society wants to hear and that's what gets put out there in mass publication. If society truely wanted to hear less of the bad stuff then stop freakin' buying it and letting your kids buy it and that will allow artist whom have different topics to get signed to the major record labels and get their music out there. Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Common, and a number of other rap/hip-hop artist have a lot more things to say that objectifying women and all that other stuff the masses like to hear, but they don't sell as many albums as say some other artist whom like to do all that s*x, partying, stuff.

Any true hiphop fans knows that there are rap/hip-hop artsit that talk about everything from their religion to politics to s*x to just about everything else under the sun. However, all this anti-rap/hip-hop folks would have you think that that is all rap is about.

There are thousands upon thousands of hip hop groups out there. But only a score on the radio. So i understand how people think that the art itself has changed, because the media (radio/video/printpress) offers a skewed view. And the fans support it. so the industry fosters "harmful" lyrics and images. but hip hop hasnt changed at all.

Well, SOUTHERN - I was a teen in the 80's and witnessed the "birth" if you will of LL COOL J, RUN DMC, the BEASTIE BOYS....and have been a fan ever since. I can say that LL was and remains my only "celebrity crush".... that is one sexy man! A lot of it is rude, but you can turn the channel or not buy it for sure. In my house - we listen to it all: rock; classic rock; R&B; hip hop; blues; jazz; gospel; top 40, etc. My favorite is R&B - favorite R&B song: House is Not a Home (Luter's version...).

I think hip hop today is okay! Now instead of men degrading women in their music, female rappers such as Lil Kim and Trina are doing the same about men! So now all is far in love and hip hop! Besides that, I love hip hop and can't get enough of it although I do have my picks and chooses about who and what I listen to!

I have to agree with G2. I love rap music, but it is too vulgar and too much about abuse, of all kinds. I remember when rap was fun, great to dance to, and you didn't have to bleep out half of the lyrics.

I like rap and hip hop both. I don't get offended because I'm not one of the girls the rappers are talking about, so it never phases me. There are a few artists that I just straight up do NOT like at all, but for the most part, if the lyrics are catchy and the beat is good, then I'll listen. Female rappers can be dirrrty too, Jacki-O, Lil Kim, Missy Elliot, Trina..I'm sure there are more that I'm blanking on. They objectify men the same way male rappers do women. The dirty songs are just entertainment to me, but I would worry if I actually thought people put much stock in the bad/dirty raps.

Tupac had a lot to say though, I think he was one of the most poetic rappers of any age. I'm sure some people find it hard to believe that a white girl from the suburbs can identify with Pac, but I do to a point. He made a lot of people think. I don't hold Tupac in the same respect I hold someone such as Lil Jon or say 50 Cent. I do see a bit of Pac in Eminem though.

I love the rap and hip-hop phenomenon. Unfortunately, I am a bit to young to have witnessed it's birth in the 80's. But I did catch the end of it and have been a listener ever since. Currently I am loving the new Eminem, but I am always partial to Dre, Snoop, Easy, Pac, and Cube.

some can be, it's hard for me to say, i grew up on zapp,gap band, daz band, midnight star, utfo,stuff like that , now i just think it's all been done to much. but, if an artist really has something to say i'll listen.

Hip Hop use to be who was ORIGINAL!!!!. Everything now is so commercial. I'm forced to listen to "Underground Artist" to get the REAL HIP HOP. Black Eye Peas, The Roots, Mos Def,

i like hiphop music its good not that good only some that have a nice beat thats all
