I love music and sometimes I run across a song that sums up in a few clever lyrics a deep feeling that I wouldn't have known how to express in words. It absolutely awes me when that happens.
So I thought it would be fun to hear what kinds of songs have touched other folks like that.
An example of that for me would be My Immortal by Evanescence... In fact the lines "These wounds won't seem to heal. This pain is just too real. There's just too much that time cannot erase" gave me the ability to see that the relationship that I had been in and trying to save for 13 yrs. was never going to get better.
So anyway, do you have a song like that?
One that makes you see yourself or your situation in a new light?
Hope this isn't too sappy for the guys :)
for me its deffinently the song "EVERYBODY'S SINGING THAT SOUTH WEST SONG" by ICP i have dysthimic depression, so when i was real close to suicide this song pretty much sumed up how i didnt care about life, and how much the words of people who brought me to this point didnt matter anymore.
it was pretty much my last words.................
Some say I'm real and some say I'm fake But I really don't care cuz it's all too late You see, my mind is weak and I'm losing breath As I crawl along I can feel the death
Everywhere I go I bring with me pride And then I pay the carny and I take a ride But see, the wheel is wicked and it spins me death So I try it again with what pride is left
If we have to go then you can take me fast You see, I started under and I'm sinking fast And when the joker's card is missing from your deck Then you know the rope has finally caught my neck
Eh, yo, don't look, now, there we go again It's me and the grim reaper, best of friends He's always hanging round waitin for me to die We shot a game of pool, he's not a bad guy
Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden. This would have to be my favorite song, I love the singer's voice, the melody, but most of all the lyrics. Imagine..... finding a love like that?
Well being in a country/souther rock band we did a lot of songs like that. I was also one of the lead singers in the band and one that we did that really touched me was "Turn the Page" by Bob Seger. Especially on the last verse when he wrote "Later in the evening as you lie awake in bed with the echo of the amplifiers ringing in your head you smoke the days last cigarette remembering what she said... now here I am on the road again there I am up on the stage and here I go playing the star again there I go... turn the page" It seem like when we were out and the miles rolled by that this song hit even closer to home. Another song that we didn't sing but I like is Jeff Healey's "Angel Eye".
