I just bought 'Back to Bedlam' by James Blunt and 'Goodbye My Lover' had me all choked up..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Did I disappoint you or let you down?
Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?
'Cause I saw the end before we'd begun,
Yes I saw you were blinded and I knew I had won.
So I took what's mine by eternal right.
Took your soul out into the night.
It may be over but it won't stop there,
I am here for you if you'd only care.
You touched my heart you touched my soul.
You changed my life and all my goals.
And love is blind and that I knew when,
My heart was blinded by you.
I've kissed your lips and held your head.
Shared your dreams and shared your bed.
I know you well, I know your smell.
I've been addicted to you.
Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.
~~~~~~~~~

Sad songs really do say so much.
Which ones bring a lump to your throat?

"911 For Peace"

It's in the paper every day
You see it in the headlines and you feel so sick, yeah
Another life leaves this world (this world) so full of hate
But short
Short on compassion
Short on humanity
Asking myself in vain, shaken by the shock,
"do we even have a chance?"

[Chorus: x2]
I don't wanna die
(I don't wanna kill)
I don't wanna kill
(I don't wanna die)
We are all human.
It's time to prove it.

This is a plea for peace (world peace)
To the oppressors of the world and to
To the leaders of nations, corporate profit takers,
to the every day citizen
Greed, envy, fear, hate - the competition has to stop.
When you see someone down, now's the time to pick them up
Set our differences aside and never look back, no

[Chorus: x2]
I don't wanna die
(I don't wanna kill)
I don't wanna kill
(I don't wanna die)
We are all human
It's time to prove it.

Isn't everybody tired of the fighting? (hey, hey)
Isn't everybody tired of the killing? (hey, hey)
Isn't everybody tired of the dying? (hey, hey)
Isn't everybody tired of the hatred? (hey, hey)
Violence... (hey, hey)
fighting... (hey)
killing... (hey)
dying.. (hey)
aaaaaah!!

[excerpt from Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech:]
And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow,
I still have a dream
we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children,
black men and white men
Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join
hands and sing
"Free at last, free at last.
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last."

[Chorus: x2]
I don't wanna die
(I don't wanna kill)
I don't wanna kill
(I don't wanna die)
We are all human
It's time to prove it.

We are all human
It's time to prove it.
We are all human...

U2's Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own has got some amazingly touching lyrics.

Bono wrote it in memory of his father but it works on so many other levels too

Re:

Great choice, and yes, I think it works on many levels too. Ih ave to say though that I think "One" beats it.

Sorry to hear that, but welcome back x

'So here I am once more, in the playground of the broken hearts. One more experience, one more entry in a diary self-penned......' says it all.

Just bought the new Katie Melua CD..Its Brilliant, and the words to this song..get me right there!!

"Piece By Piece"

First of all must go
Your scent upon my pillow
And then I'll say goodbye
to your whispers in my dreams.
And then our lips will part
In my mind and in my heart,
Cos your kiss
Went deeper than my skin.

Piece by piece
is how I'll let go of you
Kiss by kiss
Will leave my mind one at a time
One at a time

First of all must fly,
My dreams of you and I,
There's no point of holding on to those
And then our ties will break,
For your and my own sake,
Just remember,
This is what you chose

Piece by piece
Is how I'll let go of you
Kiss by kiss,
will leave my mind one at a time
One at a time

I'll shed like skin,
Our memories of lazy days,
And fade away the shadow of your face

Piece by piece
Is how I'll let go of you
Kiss by kiss,
Will leave my mind one at a time
One at a time
One at a time
One at a time

I found this one a bit late....

Lyrics that get me everytime is A HOUSE IS NOT A HOME.....the Luther Vandross version makes me cry every time. Being blessed enough to see him in concert several times - - and I was in tears when he was crooning that one.

WOW

The love that you had in your heart is gone
Any touch of sincerity
Any trace of compassion
Who hardend your heart?
Turned it to stone?
What made you forget?
You were in love with somone
Your hands don't reach out
Your voice doesn't call me
I know you've stopped listening
Your eyes look straight through me
If nights are like this
I'd rather be alone
Who said you could forget
You were in love with someone?
Tell me what hardend your heart
Tell me what turned it to stone
Tell me what made you forget
You were in love with someone
Was I wrong to forgive
Your indiscretions?
Should I have been more hysterical
Less understanding?
(NOW HERE COMES MY FAVORITE LINE)
If your looking for a villain
Go on and assume the role
(THAT'S RIGHT SANG IT SANG IT )
But don't say it's my fault
That you're not in love with someone
Tell me what hardend your heart
Tell me what turned it to stone
Tell me what made you forget
You were in love with someone
Tell me there's someone in your life
I'll fight to keep you for my own
Tell me because I really want to know
Why you can't be in love with someone THAT'S MY GIRL TRACY CHAPMAN "THE LOVE YOU HAD" IF I'M FEELING DOWN OR MISUSED IT GOES ON REPEAT. DEE YOU GOT ME CHOKED UP JUST REMEMBERING THE PROMISE.

I find wine goes well with everything!! Modgal...Not just cute, but a fireman *swoon*!!!
If we all took Bubs' advice and locked ourselves in the loo, do you think he'd come and rescue us?? There's always hope......

Jack is sooooo right the james blunt song Goodbye My Lover is amazing but so is the album, cant take it out of the car cd player, also try Emmylou harris "two more bottles of wine" it sum's it up perfectly

We came out west together with a common desire
The fever we had migtha set the west coast on fire
Two months later got trouble in mind
My baby moved out and left me behind
But it's all right 'cause it's midnight
And I got two more bottles of wine

end of a relationship and wine go so well together

Cher
If I Could Turn Back Time

I don't know why I did the things I did
I don't know why I said the things I said
Pride's like a knife, it can cut deep inside
Words are like weapons, they wound sometimes
I didn't really mean to hurt you
I didn't wanna see you go
I know I made you cry
But baby

CHORUS
If I could turn back time
If I could find a way
I'd take back those words that have hurt you
And you'd stay
If I could reach the stars
I'd give them all to you
Then you'd love me, love me
Like you used to do
If I could turn back

My world was shattered, I was torn apart
Like somebody took a knife
And drove it deep in my heart
When you walked out that door
I swore that I didn't care
But I lost every thing darling then and there
Too strong to tell you I was sorry
Too proud to tell you I was wrong
I know that I was blind, and darling

CHORUS

I love this song. "She didn't have time" by Terri Clark. This is me. Ex left and I haven't had time to date until now.

He said goodbye from the edge of the porch
like she'd been some casual friend
he said "your better off with out me
i'm not what you need"
like her momma had said about him
he started the car
pulled out of the drive
didn't waste any time lookin' back
she watched him go
thinkin' even a stranger
would show more compassion than that

she could've cried but she didn't have time
she had a baby to feed
a pink blanket to find
to rock their little one to sleep
she could've laid in bed for hours
giving misery the power
but she didn't have time

she got a sitter, she got a job
'cause she had a promise to keep
her day was a factory and evening survival
at night was exhaustion and sleep
sometimes she felt life was passing her by
and watching was all she could do
her friends said "you gotta get outta the house
and maybe you'll meet someone new"

she could've tried
but she didn't have time
she had a five year old to feed
she had ballet class, piano lessons
and t-ball little league
she could've laid awake for hours
giving lonely nights the power
but she didn't have the time

not time where would she find the time
to trust a man again
not time for that flat tire
a crowded parking lot and then
not time to just have coffee with the man
who got her tired fixed
she was thinking gosh he's handsome
when he asked do you have kids

she could've lied
but she didnt have time
all she said was "she's five"
he said "i saw the car seat I love kids
does she have your eyes?"
and they sat and talked for hours
giving destiny it's power
she could've been afraid
to fall in love that night
but she didn't have time

she could've been afraid
to fall in love that night
but she didn't have time
