Ok...what IS it with the guys that can't commit to even a cup of coffee or a movie, for gosh sakes? A guy I knew in high school suddenly popped up out of the blue, and wanted to go out. That was October 2006...it's now March 2007 and we have yet to get together. He cancels our dates every time. Only once was it something that came up on my end that caused me to have to cancel - out of 10 attempts, he has cancelled all the others.
I think the kicker was this weekend. He cancelled (again) due to a family function that came up. He e-mailed me and said, and I quote: "I'll call you this weekend if I have time and I'm in the mood." In the mood? What the heck is that? Needless to say he hasn't called..and if he did, I think I "wouldn't be in the mood" to take his call.
Sorry, I just had to rant. I haven't dated in over 2 years, and was kind of tickled to have someone from high school contact me - but to have him contact me and then turn out to be what he is was very disappointing. Is it too much to ask to just get together to watch a movie or go out and chat over a cup of coffee??
LOL Ed...your reply made me chuckle. It's not outright hostility, just frustration, I guess.
You asked what the rest of the reasons were?
-"can't tell you in e-mail, it's just too lame of an excuse"
-ex wouldn't pick up son when she agreed to (which I understood)
-"had something come up"
-"buddy at work got fired and I'm depressed over it" (wtf??)
etc., etc., etc.
Now, I backed off since that post in March, and just let him stew for a while. He pops up every other month or so, talks for a while and then disappears again.
So now...since my kids are gone for the summer, I've started hitting the dating sites a little harder, and have actually had one date - kind of a nightmare, but hey, I had one! LOL
Ed, I do appreciate your viewpoint, and I apologize if my posting sounded hostile - I was simply frustrated, but have since decided it's not worth it. If he finds time for a movie or something, great. If not, that's fine too. And as far as offering a compromise, I did, many times, and he didn't take me up on it. And I did it in the most adult way possible.
And thanks to all who posted supportive words! :-)
So I have a question as to why all the HOSTILITY moung YOU and the other woman on this sight? I mean ARe this mans reasons ligitiment. It sounds to me like he is at least making a effort. Calling rather than NOT SHOWING at F ing all!~! It is hard to make things work.
Why do you sit there and get Mad. Offer him a solution to your issues. It is called Compramize. Better yet it is called being a ADULT!~! At least he Calls and does not leave you HANGING in the BREEZE like MOST PIG HEADED men would. SORRY but his family is a Priority over a casual Date. HMMMmmmmmm To me that is a RARE kind of thing this day and age. IS He actually is thinking with his BRAIN and not his Genitals???
From what you have said here, something tells me the man is married... all the warning flags are there. If I was you, I would send him an email telling him that you are too busy to play such childish games. Believe me... I've been there... done that... bought the hat! and shirt... and the coffee mug... and the... LOL
