"Red Riding Hood". It was rather a cross between Sleepy Hollow and The Scarlet Letter and even Twilight. Gorgeous attention to detail in set dressing and costuming. The soundtrack was rich and sensual and the Pagan elements were totally hot. Of course I knew it was the re-telling of the children's nursery rhyme, but the nice surprise was mixing in classic werewolf stories and lore, and historical witch hunt details. This movie would have been fun to see with a date instead of a friend and her baby. Go see it!
I am new here (just joined today) saw this topic and thought I would chime in.
I saw The proposal with Sandra Bullock last week and I loved it. I don't usually go for romantic comedies but it was real good. Betty White was in it and she really made the movie something special. Yes the movie was kind of predictable and some of the situations were a bit unbelievable but it was so funny I didn't care.
i just saw another good movie on HBO called THE FAMILY STONE. it was a funny heart felt Christmas movie. i sheaded a tear or two, but then again i am a cry baby for sentiment.
Blood diamonds was a great movie! The Prestige was gripping and completely messed up (in a great way) in the end. The Illusionist is a beautiful and fascinating movie. And the Departed was great too...
It sounds like I recommended every movie I have seen recently but these really did stand out as movies worthy of recommendation!
The last movie I saw and really enjoyed was Little Miss Sunshine. It was bizarre but really funny. I kind of like the off kilter not quite mainstream movies. I also love big blockbusters....just lately so short on both time and money they are less likely to get my rental dollars. Though I do have to admit I bought a copy of Dead Man's Chest eventhough I found the movie heavy on action sequences and short on plot. You know for the kids ;)
The last movie I saw was a rental break - up funny somewhat but ended wrong!!! Yup I like the movie Phat Girls. I watch Annapolis and Sahara on HBO or either cinamax but they were very good movies!!
This is cheesy but my all-time favorite movie is 'Lady and the Tramp'. I hadn't seen it in years and during Christmas I bought the DVD and remembered why I love it so much. Great movies lately: The Guardian(even though it copies Top Gun too much, Blood Diamond and Rocky Balboa.
My honey rented "Superman Returns". I didn't think that I would like it, but it was better than I expected it would be. But then again, how could one expect any Superman and Lois Lane to be as great as Christopher Reeves and Margot Kidder? True classics.
Re:
Love and respect to the Superman :)
Hope his next movie has a classic comic book villian :)
Hoping for Brainiac :)
I rented "Little Miss Sunshine" over the holiday break. I loved it so much that I saw it three times. I also enjoyed "Friends With Money".

Happy New Year to all users! I wish you more marvellous Movies to see in the coming New Year.
This December has been a feast of great movies for me. I loved Pursuit of Happyness, Dreamgirls and Blood Diamond. My all time fav movies are The Color Purple, Eve's Bayou and Down in the Delta.
Last night I watched The Holiday (Cameron Diaz, Jade Law. Kate Winslett, Jack Black)
Despite wanting to scream at the screen "it never works out like that" it was a great film and made me laugh and cry. In fact if I'd not been sat in the cinema I probably would have sobbed uncontrollably at times; as a perpetually-single-at-Christmas type it jangled a few nerves, lol.
Well worth a watch (ladies ... worth it just for Jude Law ... he was looking VERRRY hot for a skinny bloke!)
