I'd define a relationship as an emotional and intellectual symbiosis. It's the union of two separately viable life forms who come together to the benefit of both.

I'd define a bad relationship as a symbiosis turned parasitic, in which one life forms begins to feed off of the other (emotionally, financially, etc.)to the host's detriment.
