Hello everyone. Just thought I would see if there are any other members on here that work in the beauty industry. I am a licensed nail professional and instructor of over 20 years. Share pics of your best work if you are a stylist or show off your best looks if you are a big and beautiful Diva.

The link is a photo of fantasy wedding stilletto nails.

The other shot is acrylic nails with airbrushed designs.

Never have - I bite my nails - have thought about it in order to help them grow while covered with fake but have never seriously pursued due to cost although I do admire those with shorter nicely kept nails with some colour/accents. I agree that it is just in keeping with hair colouring, waxing , botox etc. - accessorize and glam it up.

Smoosh, nail enhancements can be a good way to help nail biters grow nails. If they are done correctly, they can really address the problem. Sculptured gels or acrylic nails are best for nails that have been bitten. Nail tips are not the correct option as they don't stay on.

Fair point - I've no problem shaving my legs but no way would I undergo surgery and all that other malarkay for pure vanity. If folk don't like the way I look they can look somewhere else, lol! But there are of course plenty who will, and do, with mixed results. I sometimes wonder if some of them have mirrors. Or friends! (Know what you mean about the wigs - I bought one for a giggle but it's waaaay beyond funny and it hidden away somewhere now!)

One of the most AWESOME aspects of being a professional in the beauty industry is that there are ALWAYS jobs NO MATTER WHAT the economy is like. People NEVER stop getting beauty services done. They cut back but they don't totally eliminate getting their pamper on. I have never been out of work in this profession because there were NO jobs. Business does slow down of course but, the only times in my career that I was out of work was when I chose to be because I was holding out for something specific. In fact, since the economy has gone in the toilet, I have never done better. I teach manicuring at a community college. I make WAY more money today than I did when the economy was supposed to be doing so well.

The artwork you've done is quite beautiful, but I have yet to get to grips with why rock hard, squared off false nails (claws?) are so popular and considered in any way attractive. I'd be terrified of doing myself a michief with them or ripping my face to shreds as I slept. In fact I changed hair salons because when my previous stylist told me "no they don't effect me at all, I can still work and everything" she lied - they really do hurt when they scratch you!

Thank you. Women wear nail enhancements for the same reason that women have needles stuck in their faces, hoses jammed underneath their skin during surgical procedures that pump fat out of their bodies overnight, pay thousands of dollars to have their faces cut, pulled and stitched back together. Why has any woman ever worn a girdle or stilletto high heels? Why do women shave their legs or even more painful have them waxed? Nail enhancements are no different than any other brand of torture that ALL women put themselves through. It all boils down to WHICH brand of pain and discomfort is appealing to that individual woman. I have seen plenty of women wearing wigs that look absolutely horrendous. I wonder why they seem to find that attractive?

Hi Smoosh! I am so NOT advertising nail services. I have done nails in salons and spas for over 20 years. I am an educator in the industry now and teaching is SO much more gratifying. My goal here was just to see if there are any other members of this site that work in the cosmetology industry. It would be nice to see some creative photographs purely for entertainment purposes versus soliciting business. As it goes anyway, the site is not okay with members soliciting business. Do you get your nails done?

So are you advertising your work ? for those who live close by? They are very colourful. Must be hard to type with for those of us in that field. Wish I could grow my nails half that long. Good luck drumming up some business.

Here's another pic of my work. These are acrylic nails with hand painted designs.
